United Way of Southwest Michigan is proud to offer the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Program which provides free tax preparation for low-income working families and seniors living in Berrien, Cass, and Van Buren counties.
Beginning in early February, volunteers of the VITA Program will offer free tax help to people who make $56,000 or less and need assistance in preparing their own tax returns.
The SITE COORDINATOR will ensure smooth operation of the site including safeguarding of confidential client information and computer equipment, that there are adequate supplies on site, and that preparers are only assigned returns within their certification level.
- Oversee the South Haven (when needed) and Paw Paw location in Van Buren County
- The site coordinator is usually also a tax reviewer
- Responsible for answering client, tax preparer and greeter questions
The sites are open Tuesday & Thursday from 1pm-6pm. An additional day to complete returns may be needed.
