Who We Are

Mission: To collect and preserve artifacts related to Berrien County history through exhibits, publications, research activities, educational opportunities, and community outreach programs.

The Berrien County Historical Association was established in 1968 to save and restore the historic 1839 County Courthouse as a historical museum, in partnership with Berrien County. Since then, the BCHA has expanded its mission to preserve and interpret the history, heritage and culture of Berrien County and the surrounding areas. From the infamous Pickle Festival to our gallery talks, history lovers of all ages have a chance to explore their passions or find new ones.

What We Do

The Berrien County Historical Association operates the History Center at Courthouse Square and collects, preserves and interprets the history of Berrien County through exhibits, tours, publications, research and educational and community outreach programs.

As we write the next chapter of our history, volunteers are an important part of the narrative. They ensure that we’re able to meet the needs of our guests throughout the year by supporting programs, renovation projects, and on-going “mundane” needs of the museum. Volunteers have ensured we are decorated for the holiday season, provided much needed man-power for large cleaning projects, and waded through the weeds of history to support research projects. Be a part of history and join the History Center today!
