Who We Are
Mission: To inspire people to care for the natural world, encouraging discovery through personal experiences with wildlife and habitats.
Sarett Nature Center is over 60 years old. The nature center started with a donation from Mrs. Elizabeth Upton Vawter of 130 acres which has turned into about 1000 acres over the years. Sarett Nature Center is organized exclusively for charitable, educational and scientific purposes. Sarett’s objective is to insure high quality environmental education for persons of all ages. Sarett does this by maintaining an ecologically intact area in which such education is possible.
What We Do
We are dedicated to promoting environmental education and preserving biodiversity by maintaining and developing our nature center as a community resource. We provide outdoor educational classes to schools and other organizations in the area. We also provide and maintain about 8 miles of walking trails here at Sarett as well as trails at our Brown Sanctuary and Black’s Woods locations. Finally, we provide visitors an opportunity to visit our butterfly house.
