Since September 30, following reports of elevated levels of lead in the city-supplied water. residents of the city of Benton Harbor have been advised to use bottled water for cooking, drinking, brushing teeth, rinsing foods and mixing powdered infant formula.
The State of Michigan is providing free bottled water to residents of the city of Benton Harbor. Area organizations are working together to provide city residents with cases of bottled water.
Volunteers are needed to move these cased into residents' vehicles and help with these drive-through distributions.
This volunteer opportunity takes place on Monday, January 24th.
Your shift is scheduled from 3:30 - 6:00 p.m. at Benton Harbor High School: 870 Colfax Ave, Benton Harbor. This shift is hosted by New Covenant CBC.

Important Notes:
- This distribution event is outdoors, rain or shine. Please dress accordingly.
- This distribution is done in a drive-through format. Residents are asked to remain in their cars, so volunteers will not come face-to-face with others.
- This is a very physical volunteer request. 24-packs of water bottles are being distributed which are heavy. If you have physical limitations, please note this and we will place you in traffic control or registration of participants.
- Volunteers are required to properly wear a mask during the entire shift, which includes fully covering your mouth and nose.
- Volunteers are required to complete the COVID-19 screening either before on the day of their shift prior to arrival for their shift OR when checking in for their shift. This must be done prior to beginning any work activities.
