We have an upcoming activity in June and we are looking for a few volunteers to help with receiving or promoting food donations. Martin’s Supermarkets in Stevensville is promoting United Way of Southwest Michigan's “Christmas in June” food drive. They could use a couple volunteers, perhaps in 3-4 hour increments to help with greeting customers and handing out flyers for the food drive, or helping put canned goods into the box or just saying thanks to customers who donate.
What is Christmas in June? Every year, across Southwest Michigan, food pantries see themselves fully stocked in the winter months and holiday season. But when summer hits, food donations go down and their shelves are harder to keep stocked. This can leave low-income, hard-working families with very few options. Christmas in June seeks to help alleviate this issue by asking local businesses to help us stock the local food pantries with items (IN GROUPS OF 100) to help them through the summer months.
