The Berrien County Parks Department and Lake Michigan College are seeking volunteers for the Reduce, Reuse, Recycle Day collection event taking place Wednesday, April 14, at Lake Michigan College, Benton Harbor. The event takes place in the parking lot south of (in front of) the Mendel Center.
Volunteers may be asked to assist with traffic control, unloading foam/Styrofoam, unloading electronics and separating them out into boxes, helping at the document shredding station, flattening cardboard boxes, or other needs that come up.
Volunteers are needed for these various tasks between 2:15 p.m. and 7 p.m. We welcome any time someone may be able to give.
We’ve planned this year’s event with Covid safety in mind. The event takes place outside (like usual). We are accepting fewer items which allows volunteers to better spread out in the work space, volunteers will wear masks, and participants are asked to stay in their vehicle the whole time.
No recycling experience necessary. Volunteers need to be 18 years or older (middle school age is fine if volunteering along side a responsible adult). Volunteers should bring work gloves, if they have some, or we can provide some; wear sturdy, comfortable shoes; and dress for a variety of weather (because you just never know).
