SMCAA's quarterly Temporary Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP) will be held on Wednesday, May 20th, 2020. TEFAP is a food supplement program for anyone who is struggling and in need of food.
SMCAA is seeking 12 volunteers per shift: 10:00am-noon and 1:00pm-3:00pm. ***If you would like to volunteer for both shifts, please be sure to register for both time slots.
Due to COVID-19, please note that volunteers will not come into contact with clients; SMCAA hosts our food distributions in a "drive-thru" format. The distribution will be hosted at our warehouse: 331 Miller St, Benton Harbor, MI 49022.
Client Requirements:
- SMCAA staff will take each client's name and zip code while he/she is in the drive thru line
- Only 2 households allowed per vehicle; NO MORE than 2 food boxes will be provided per vehicle
- Clients will be asked to remain in their vehicles; No client is to leave his/her vehicle at any moment while in the drive-thru
- Food boxes will ONLY be placed in the trunk or tailgate of vehicles; boxes will NOT be allowed in passenger or back seats, please be sure you have room cleared
- Only SMCAA staff and volunteers will open, load, and close vehicle trunk/tailgate
