Foster Closet of Michigan - Berrien County

Mission: To provide free clothing, supplies, and other essential items to children in foster care.

We are the Foster Closet of Michigan-Berrien County. We are a 501c3 tax-exempt nonprofit organization who provides items free of charge to foster families and foster children. These items help rebuild foster children’s lives by giving them something to call their own and it also helps to relieve some of the financial strain it places on foster parents. We are also accepting referrals from school counselors or church pastors. There are no paid positions and we are operated 100% by volunteers; most of them foster families themselves. We have local branches throughout the state of Michigan.

Our organization provides clothing, underclothing, toys, shoes, baby equipment, and gear and in some cases furniture to children placed in the foster care system in State of Michigan. These items are new and like new items that have been donated to us. Children are often placed in foster care with no personal items and in many cases they come into care with only the clothes on their back. Our organization provides these kids with stylish new or like new clothes and personal items helping to begin the process of rebuilding their self-esteem and providing them with belongings they can call their own.
